CLIOSON CREAM

Composition:
Each 100 g cream contains:
Betamethasone valerate 0.12 g
( Equivalent to Betamethasone 0.1 g)
Clioquinol 3 g

Description

Cliosone cream contains betamethasone valerate which a very active corticosteroid specifically developed for dermatological uses which exerts distinctive anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and antiallergic properties. The valerate ester of betamethasone is known to be a very potent corticosteroid ensuring rapid relief of inflammation, itching and pain. Betamethasone valerate is highly effective in treatment of a wide range of inflammatory dermatoses that are normally responsive to corticosteroid therapy as well as in other conditions which do not respond satisfactorily to less active corticosteroids. Cliosone cream also contains clioquinol which is clinically effective in skin infections because it exerts both antibacterial and antifungal activities.

Indications:
• Cliosone cream is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions where secondary bacterial and/or fungal infection is present, suspected, or likely to occur: eczema in children and adults, including atopic and discoid eczemas; prurigo nodularis; psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), neurodermatoses; seborrhoeic dermatitis; contact sensitivity reactions and discoid lupus erythmatosus.
• Cliosone cream can also be used in the management of secondary infected insect bites and anal and genital intertrigo.

Usage:
A small quantity of Cliosone cream should be applied gently to the affected area two or three times daily until improvement occurs. It may then be possible to maintain improvement by applying Cliosone cream once a day, or even less often. Cliosone cream is often appropriate for moist or weeping surfaces.

Side-effects:
Cliosone cream is well tolerated. Prolonged and intensive topical treatment with highly active corticosteroid preparations may cause local atrophic changes in the skin (such as thinning and striae), pigmentation changes and dilatation of the superficial blood vessels, particularly when occlusive dressings are used or when skin folds are involved.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the components, primary cutaneous viral infections, primarily infected skin lesions caused by fungi or bacteria; dermatoses in infants under 1 year of age, including dermatitis and napkin eruptions.

Precautions:
Long-term continuous topical therapy or application over extensive skin areas should be avoided where possible, particularly in infants and children, as adrenal suppression may occur. If used in psoriasis, careful patient supervision is important. Do not continue for more than 7 days in the absence of clinical improvement. There is inadequate evidence of safety of topical corticosteroids during pregnancy.
