Of ELASTICIN ds in the treatment of osteoarthritis. ELASTICIN ds also helps rebuild articular cartilage and maintains joint function. Glucosamine is an amino derivative of glucose which represents an essential component of mucprteins and plays an important role in preventing cartilage deterioration.
Glucosamine is the main substrate for the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid. The primary function of glucosamine is to stimulate the production of glycoaminoglycans in the articular cartilage and provides natural protection against the cartilage-damaging effects of some NSAIDs. Chondroitin, in addition to being the major glycosaminoglycan found in cartilage, inhibits degradative enzymes which contribute to cartilage breakdown. Chondroitin sulphate also increases the synthesis of proteoglycans and collagen. Vitamin C is a necessary cofactor for collagen biosynthesis since it is involved in the cross-linking of collagen fibers. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant which is active against free radicals which cause damage to cartilage. Manganese is a trace element that is considered as a complementary agent for the proper balance of the chondroprotective effect of elasticin ds.

Indications:
– Oesteoarthritis of knees, hips, shoulders or vertebral column.
– Following joint injuries and orthopedic surgery to enhance joint repair processes.
– To maintain healthy joints in athletes.

Dosage:
Adults: one tablet after food 3 times daily or as directed by the physician
Children: as directed by the physician.
N.B.
– elasticin ds scored tablets can be easily divided before swallowing according to the patient comfort.
– The beneficial effects of therapy are observed 2-3 weeks after continuous administration of elasticin ds tablets.

side effects:
elasticin ds is safe and well tolerated. Rarely, mild and reversible gastrointestinal disturbances may occur.

interactions:
Elasticin ds may interfere with estimation of glucose in urine.

Packing:
A box containing 10 or 30 or 60 tablets.

Storage:
Keep at a temperature (15-30C).
