MAXA-FLOX

COMPOSITION:
Each 1 ml of MAXA-FLOX eye drops contains:
Lomefloxacin 3 mg
Benzalkonium chloride 0.05 mg

Description

PROPERTIES:
MAXA-FLOX eye drops contains lomefloxacin, a difluorinated quinolone derivative which is therapeutically effective in the treatment of bacterial infections of the anterior segment of the eye. MAXA-FLOX eye drops exerts a bactericidal effect against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Lomefloxacin acts on the A subunit of bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) leading to impaired enzyme functions. MAXA-FLOX eye drops therefore inhibits bacterial DNA-related processes resulting in rapid killing of sensitive bacteria. The topical application of MAXA-FLOX eye drops is indicated in eye superficial bacterial infections to achieve rapid and complete microbiological and clinical cure.

Following topical application of MAXA-FLOX eye drops, lomefloxacin systemic absorption is very low and the blood levels of the drug are undetectable.
