MONICURE plus Vaginal suppositories

Description

PROPERTIES:
MONICURE PLUS is a complementary combination of two potent antimycotic agents miconazole and nystatin which ensures remarkable efficacy in treatment of mixed vulvovaginal infections. Miconazole has a broad spectrum of activity against the most common pathogenic fungi including Candida species and yeasts together with strong bactericidal action against Gram-positive bacilli and cocci that often complicate mycotic infections. It also has the advantage of rapid symptomatic relief of pruritus and burning sensation accompanying vaginal infections. Nystatin is an antifungal antibiotic known by its reliable fungistatic and fungicidal effects against wide variety of yeasts and yeast-like fungi including Candida species. The excellent patient acceptability of this combination as well as the superior cure rate renders monicure plus the reference line treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis and bacterial super-infections.

pHarmacokinetics:
Small amounts of miconazole are absorbed systemically following intravaginal administration while nystatin is almost not absorbed systemically.

INDICATIONS:
ϖ Vaginal or vulvovaginal candidiasis.
ϖ Vaginal mycosis secondarily infected by Gram-positive bacteria.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:
One suppository is inserted intravaginally once daily at bedtime for 
7 consecutive days.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any component of the product.

SIDE EFFECTS:
MONICURE PLUS is well tolerated but rare cases of vaginal irritation may occur.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:
ϖ Concurrent use of warfarin and miconazole may cause bleeding and/or bruising.
ϖ Supposirory bases might interact with or weaken the effect of latex contraceptives (condoms and diaphragms).

PREGNANCY & LACTATION:
Pregnancy:
Should not be used during the first trimester of pregnancy unless the physician considered it to be necessary.
Lactation:
It is not known whether vaginal miconazole or nystatin are distributed into breast milk. However, problems in humans have not been documented.

PRECAUTIONS & warnings:
Discontinue treatment if irritation or sensitization occurs.

PACKING:
A box containing 7 vaginal suppositories.

STORAGE:
Keep at a temperature not exceeding 30C, in dry place.
Keep out of reach of children.

INSTRUCTIONS TO PATIENTS:
ϖ For vaginal use only.
ϖ Continue medicine for full course of treatment even if menstruation begins.
