Nice Baby ointment

Description

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Nice Baby ointment is very effective in the relief of diaper rash, superficial wounds, burns & other minor skin irritations as it contains Zinc oxide which is a mild astringent used topically as a soothing agent & a protective applicant in eczema.
Nice Baby ointment also contains the potent antifungal antibiotic Nystatin which is derived from streptomyces noursei. Nystatin has both fungistatic & fungicidal activities against a wide variety of yeast and yeast-like fungi including the candida genus. Its efficacy has been firmly established in candidal (monilial) infections such as stomatitis, vulvovaginitis and intertriginous dermatitis. Strains resistant to Nystatin have not been isolated from patients with candidal infection.
The drug is taken by the fungal cells & bounded tightly to their membranes. Changing thus their permeability & allowing leakage of some essential intracellular components.
Nice Baby ointment also provides a physical barrier by forming a protective coating over the skin or mucous membranes which serve to reduce further effects of irritants on the affected area & relieves burring, pain or itch produced by them.
Nice Baby ointment helps prevent incidents of diaper rash, protects against urine & other irritants & soothes chafed skin.
Pharmacokinetics:
Nystatin is not absorbed from intact skin or mucous membrane.
INDICATIONS:
ϖ Diaper rash, especially that with a secondary fungal infection.
ϖ Cutaneous or mucocutaneous mycotic infection caused by candida (Monilia) albicans and other candida species.
Usage & administration:
Apply topically 2 to 3 times daily as necessary.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: –
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the ointment.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Nice Baby ointment is usually well tolerated, but rare cases of local irritation – including mild burning sensation, erythema and itching – might occur.
Drug interactions:
None.

Pregnancy & lactation:
ϖ Nystatin should be prescribed for a pregnant woman only if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
ϖ Caution should be exercised when Nice baby ointment is prescribed for nursing mothers.

Precautions & warning:
ϖ General hygienic measures should be observed to control sources of infection & reinfection.
ϖ The drug should be withdrawn if a reaction of hypersensitivity occurs.

An aluminium tube contains 20 gm.

STORAGE:
Keep at a temperature not exceeding 30C.
Keep out of reach of children.

Contact with eyes and mucous membranes should be avoided.
